Princess Pea And The Childproofing Fiasco

Boy, was this an interesting event in our house. Mommy was thrilled that Uncle Travis was super thoughtful and sent Samantha presents along with mine so she wouldn't feel left out. On the other hand, Daddy was a bit distraught by the Brady Bunch inspired hemline.

At first I was a bit shocked myself.

But quickly realized that Samantha is blazing the parent trail and she is wearing them down for me. Smooth sailing Chrissy is what they will call me!

Samantha thinks I am a hoot.

And I firmly believe that childproofing is the root of all evil.

Darn you.

Won't you go away, please.

Maybe I can chew through you.

Think smarter, Chrissy. Hmmm..

Apparently, I'm a whole lot smarter than Mommy and Daddy. Who forgets to childproof all the cabinets?

This is how we have been spending much of our time lately. Dressing up (Samantha mostly since she doesn't wear pesky onesies anymore) and dancing to pretty music is a must!

This very day one year ago I was in my Mommy's belly. Content to never come out, I got myself face up and protested every which way I could to delay my arrival. Pitocin be darned, I just wasn't ready!

12 months later I'm a whole new chickadee. I am strong willed and super happy. Well, super happy unless I don't get my way immediately and then I scream bloody murder and Mommy runs over to see if an ambulance trip is in my future. I think a paramedic is warranted when I can't pull socks off myself, don't you?

Anywhoo, happy birthday to me!

What you don't know is Mommy went to the store and bought be spinach special for my birthday celebration since I love veggies more than any other food in the entire world. She must really love me!

Guess who blew bubbles at swim lessons? Yes, some might think that it must be Chrissy because I personally refused to blow bubbles. Well, you would be wrong. I did a 180 and surprised the socks off Mommy and Daddy by blowing bubbles in the water!

Sure Chrissy kicks her legs and arms in a semi coordinated fashion during swim lessons. But, she can't sport a rockin' pink swim cap like I can!

We then went out to eat at Outback where I ate apples and grapes while Chrissy ate grapes and broccoli. I surprised Daddy by writing the word 'love' on my placemat. He didn't know I knew that word, but I learned it this week while he was on a trip and Chrissy was causing a ruckus.

Oh, speaking of Chrissy. She ruckused her way up her most recent milestone. She crawled over to the stairs and climbed up the entire flight all by herself. On her first try ever!

And even took the time to smile back at us!

Then, it was Mommy's turn. She said to heck with the duck tub and introduced sister suds time. We now take baths together!

Biscuit Is Yellow On Crazy Hair Day

So, today was kinda a big deal for two reasons. One, because it was crazy hair day at school. Silly Daddy suggested that Mommy actually do a good job brushing my hair and THAT would make it crazy in the Burt Family.

If only he knew how close to home he hit that ball!

I took some convincing to make it crazy hair day.

But ended up wearing these on the promise of an extra episode after school. Bribery gets you everywhere, Mommy.

Mommy tried to give Chrissy crazy hair. She doesn't have much hair, let alone any of it crazy. There was nothing for Mommy to clip crazy hair to.

And Chrissy didn't really want it in her hair, so she snapped her head forward and laughed when the purple strand bounced on the floor.

The second major thing that happened today? I read my very first sentence.
Biscuit is yellow.

Is is a tricky word because it sounds different than it looks. Yellow? One of my favorite words ever!

MLK Day- Samantha Style

Mommy offered to pay daycare double to take us today. They politely declined the offer, so it was off to the races for us.

By races, I mean we raced to drive Mommy nutso. I stayed super active and not so politely declined the offer of nap time. I watched tons of Super Why and picked up my new favorite phrase that peppered my conversation all day. Wanna know what it was??? Double drats!

We girls took a bath and Chrissy levitated to swipe toys from inside the tub. I thought Mommy's eyes were going to pop out of her head when she saw Chrissy's tiny toes lift off the bathmat in search of toys!

My finally got Chrissy to sleep and came down to read me stories and flipped out when she couldn't find me. She looked high and low without any luck.

Would you have done better yourself? Try now. Where am I?

Give up? Here I am!

Yeah, Mommy was totally freaked out until she found me safe and sound.

Mommy had to work all day so Daddy took a "vacation" day and spent it with Samantha and me. You can bet we pulled out all our tricks from our bag o' fun. Samantha ran around in her cowgirl boots and I was a bit demanding in the 'hold me' department.

Daddy took us to Emily's house for an afternoon playdate and he got a taste of what playdates are really like. Nothing relaxing for the parents because we either fuss or fight between a few minutes of peaceful play.

Daddy came home and went right to sleep while Mommy made us dinner and gave us each a B-A-T-H. I'm getting super good at pulling myself up and walking along the tub to shove the big soap into the bath. Talk about a majorly satisfying splash!

My very first New Year's Eve and I must say, we sure knocked this countdown out of the park. Daddy and I were so super excited to celebrate this great day with Maggie, Lexie and their Mommy and Daddy.

I was super excited that my diaper was dry and I was fed. Score!

Samantha loved the gym.

Maggie and Lexie are equestrians in the making.

Samantha found her groove in the ball pit.

While Mommy and I chose the slow lane.

Samantha was not so excited for the countdown to noon hat.

I sure held onto my noisemaker for dear life. There were tons of kiddos vying for my treasure!

Samantha had practiced her countdown and was surprised to find that other kids were not as prepared. I think she has a selective memory. She thinks she could count when she was one. I think she is full of it!

10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1- HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I rang in the new year with all the excitement this tired kiddo could muster! Then it was time for a tasty lunch. Sam had pizza and I opted for a bagel- yummy.

Then we went home for some more party time, I mean potty time!

While I practiced my standing.

But, not for too long. My legs are still little, ya know.

But I got my second wind in the tub.

And my second dinner.

Samantha cheered me on.

Until I got water up my nose.

Fashionista Faux Pas!

For those who actually know Samantha and me, then you must feel our pain of having a fashion-sense-LESS mother. I mean, seriously. Look at what she is wearing.

And then how she dressed me.

Yes, this is the best smile I can muster under these circumstances.

Samantha was extra embarrassed because she is non-matching and on the potty.

And, yes, this is the best smile she could muster.

I think we inherited our will to carry on from our Daddy. He teaches us to go in the wide, wide world and prosper, even if we don't match and our hair looks like its never seen a brush. Thanks for creating such an interesting challenge for us girls, Mom!

Thankfully, we pulled it together just in time to head to the car and drive up to Somerville to meet Lucinda and her special friend, Matt. They flew all the way from California to spend time with us. Lucinda hasn't met me yet and I was very interested in her sweater. I think I wanted to chew on it, if you really want to know.

Samantha was a wee bit shy. She rocked it in her blue dress and pink cowgirl boots. She also rocked my Cheerios, an egg, a pancake and two pieces of toast. I think she has a second belly!

We had so much fun and love to meet Mommy and Daddy's friends from before us kids. They are so gracious to us- thank you!

My New Favorite Sleeping Position

Not even Santa could save me. I had a really rough night last night. I just couldn't get comfortable. I think I'm coming down with an ear infection, but time will tell.

I kept Mommy up until all hours. And, when I finally got sleepy around 5am, I crawled over to the pillow and rested my weary head. With my tushie in the air, I achieved nirvana. Sleep!

Santa Is A Sucker!

You can take lessons from me. A smile will do a world of wonders when convincing Santa that you've been good all year long. I'm proof of this. Last night I told Santa I was a good girl all year long. Like a three year old can remember a whole year. Yeah, right!

Mommy was up early and watched us come down the stairs. I'm holding my trusty bean bag for no reason in particular. Chrissy is a little confused why there is a camera to watch us walk down the stairs.

Yeppers, all signs point to a Santa visit last night. Milk and Vitatop gone!

Chrissy celebrated Christmas Eve with her favorite activity, dig the eyeballs out of her dolly. No, I'm not kidding. She loves dollies way more than I ever could, but she is a strong believer in them blindly being her friend. Ha, ha!

We had a great day playing and napping. I was under strict instructions to go right to sleep at naptime because we were going to meet Santa tonight at Danny and Bridget's house. Their Mommy has Santa's personal cell phone number and arranges this super special gathering every Christmas Eve. You bet me I went right to sleep. I even got a B-A-T-H and picked out a super cute dress for the upcoming meeting. And then I promptly got distracted by the tv.

Chrissy was distracted by a cup. Silly Chrissy!

She is a big talker and totally digs phones. A bonus when they are purple.

Life doesn't get any better than this- pizza, princess dress and apple juice-- and all with my bestie, Emily.

Roaming The Aisles Of Target- For Big Bird!

Yes, this is how Chrissy looks after four hours of sleep. Frankly, I have no idea how she does it and don't ever want her sleep schedule. I need a good ten hours at night with a solid hour and a half nap to feel up to snuff. Otherwise, I get a bit grumpy and let the world know it.

Can you believe how happy bappy she is with such little sleep? It peeves Mommy because sleepless nights for Chrissy means sleepless nights for Mommy. Talk about a person needing sleep, Mommy takes the cake. Yeppers, there have been many grouchy days in this here house lately.

Chrissy is obsessed with playing with her food.

And her water cup.

Mommy and I soon ditched the eater and went to Target to pick out a Christmas present from me to Daddy and from me to Chrissy. I took the task very seriously and ended up with the following:

For Daddy: a yellow slinky, opened and quality control tested by yours truly; a large bag of Rolos; A Big Bird DVD and a Strawberry Shortcake DVD.

For Chrissy: a mini kitchen that makes lots and lots of noise and lights up.

Imagine me at the DVD display telling Mommy that I needed to get one for Daddy and one for me. Mommy quipped that there wasn't one display that would make both Daddy and me happy. People behind us laughed. I think at me, but I can't be sure.

Anywhoo, we came home and I tried on Mommy's new necklace and hung out with my favoritest Daddy of all time. I love you, Daddy!

Chrissy Eats (Sorta) While Samantha Spells!

I'm not the most enthusiastic eater these days. I think it's the constant ear infections and the fact that everything is way more interesting than the offerings before me. Watch this video and you'll soon see that Samantha is way more entertaining at meal time than I could ever be.

Oh, boy. Did I take some notes today. On the way to the mall, Samantha told Mommy that Dane at school calls her baby. Mommy thought she had wax in her ears and asked Samantha to repeat it twice before realizing that Samantha is no longer a toddler. Daddy did not react well to this milestone (of sorts). It was a tense moment in the car. That it until Mommy asked where that came from and Samantha responded with, "my mouth". Then both Mommy and Daddy busted out laughing as they realized the humor in the situation.

We brought more humor to the mall when Samantha lunged head first down the slide and squealed in delight when she landed on the ground with a satisfying thud.

I took a more laid back approach to the playground.

Until I got so excited I couldn't contain myself.

So Daddy let me join in the fun.

Totally worth it!

Back home, Samantha made her letter to Santa. It said

Dear Santa,

I want to dress up like a princess.

Please come visit me.

Love,

Samantha

She worked very hard to trace the letters Mommy wrote.

But not so hard she couldn't smile for the camera. Well, as smile as a three year old does these days!

Ear Infections And Checkers

This morning at breakfast, I told mommy that I wanted to be a good listener so I could go to mall and have a donut. And they thought I'd forget. Ha!

I cozied up on the cat rug and read myself a book. No joke. Here is the proof!

And then I busted out my Highlights magazine and the appropriate reading attire. It sure gets chilly in the..... kitchen??

Just like Grandpa Krempa, I'm obsessed with winter-ware.

And Chrissy is obsessed with making a mess.

Chrissy got another ear infection so I went to Target with Mommy to pick up the medicine. I found the nail polish and asked to buy some for my nails.

Yeppers, this is what an ear infection looks like. Poor Chrissy!

Thankfully, her ear troubles haven't messed up her balance.

Or her ability to take a darned good picture with Daddy, Pooh and me!

After naps it was time to head to a holiday party, where I played a mean game of "checker" with another three year old named Michael.

On the way home I wasn't quite sleepy so I entertained Mommy and Daddy.

I counted to 100 all by myself and celebrated my success with lots of cheering from the front of the car. Think they cheer me on for every little thing I do? Think again. When I tried to top this feat by counting backward, the peanut gallery was silent. What's wrong with 100, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1- hooray?

Apologies And Lots Of Desserts

Even though it only happened once before, I totally know the drill. When I got to school I put my card in Mira's cubby. And when she arrived in the classroom? I ran up to her without any prompting and threw my arms around her and apologize for the incident which will never be mentioned again. You got it?

I had a much better day today and it got even better when Daddy arrived at the classroom door to pick me up. I ran around in circles, screeching to the whole class that he is my Daddy and he is picking me up.

Then we went to Emily's for pizza, ice cream, cookies and strawberry shortcake. I pitched a fit or two and got Mommy really mad. So, Daddy put me to sleep and we talked about tomorrow. I told him that I wanted to go to the mall. I'm pretty sure I heard him go tell Mommy about my request because I heard laughter from down the hall.

This girl likes shopping and isn't ashamed to admit it!

All That Glitters Ends Up On Red

Daddy picked me up today and was very unhappy to find out that I scored myself a one way ticket to red today. This is the second time ever. The first? Remember when I bit Emily? This time? Well, read here for the details.

The worst part about my tattler? Miss Danielle had already checked the "friendly" and "followed directions" boxes and, after "the incident", whited them out. Yikes!

Yeah, I totally had to make Mira an "I'm sorry I threw glitter on you" card to deliver to her cubby in the morning. And I landed myself several stern talking tos about being nice to friends.

Well, enough of that. Onto more exciting, less illegal news. Chrissy learned a new trick. Wait for it.

My First Love Note

Mommy took another turn at the holiday cards while I made Grandma a get well card. She had surgery today so I knew she had a boo boo. I told Mommy to tell her sorry so she would feel better and then made her a card with lots of marker colors and stickers. I kept asking Mommy what color was Daddy's favorite. Can you believe eight years of marriage and she has no idea? I settled on yellow and she wasn't in a position to disagree.

When she was writing 'Dear' I read it upside down to be 'Dane' and decided to make him a picture of a dinosaur. Then I had Mommy write his name, I wrote mine and then folded the paper up so I could save it and put it in his cubby in the morning.

Here I am hiding Dane's picture so Mommy doesn't take it.

I also did my countdown calendar while Mommy was busy on the phone with the home energy audit dude, who likes to be called the energy dude. I'm pre-school serious. Mommy doesn't know how I know what the number day it is but I haven't been wrong yet. I know more than she thinks!

I was super quiet while Mommy put Chrissy to sleep. Nothing like last night. I made good choices and was rewarded with three stories and lots of hugs and kisses. And the bestest news of all is Daddy is coming home tomorrow and staying home until January!

Skeptical Specticals

I love lazy Sunday mornings. Playing with Chrissy is the bestest. She is getting super big!

Mommy worked on Christmas cards and realized that, despite taking about four thousand home pictures, not one was suitable for inclusion in our annual letter. So, bust out the camera again and force an impromptu photo session. Princess gown and all. Minus the normal smile, of course!

And, folks, this is as good as it gets on a Sunday morning! Next up? Playdate with Kayleigh, Peter and Juliet.

I wore my super snazzy sunglasses to Kayleigh's play date and they helped us get there by giving us directions. Mommy was skeptical until she asked me which way to go at the light. I said straight and she said the directions told her left. Then I told her I was just kidding. She went from skeptical to amused in three seconds flat.

When we arrived, Kayleigh's parents rolled out the red carpet and hooked us up with a festive edible art project. We made reindeer out of a cheese stick, carrots, salami, pretzel sticks, cream cheese for glue and raisins for the eyes. What a great idea!

Another idea? Three pre-shoolers chilling on the couch, watching Clifford. Sometimes it's just plain nice to relax with your homies.

Sadly, our play date ended much too soon but we promised to get together soon. And then I was off to Anya's fourth birthday party celebration. Where I got nail polish for the first time ever!

The Stars Aligned

I was super excited to have Grandma and Grandpa here when I woke up. We had a blast playing until lunchtime and then it was off to school for me and off to Virginia for them. I had so much fun with them. Come back soon!

Oh, and something very special happened today.....
I finally went a whole day at school in underwear but no diaper!

What has kept me going through this whole potty training thing? The promise of a pretty pink princess bicycle. Even Dr.G dangled this carrot. I mean, I love my tricycle and all, but a pretty pink princess bicycle? Totally worth pooping in the potty!

Now I just have to convince Miss Danielle that this is a long term commitment and not a once and done kinda thing. Will you please cheer me on?

Oh, and when I got home? The most amazing present was waiting for me. I played with Mr. Snow Miser in Arizona at AH and UB's home last Christmas and Mommy spent all year looking for one. She just about cried when it arrived, hot off the eBay sleigh and the Kmart price tag was still on it. We got it at the smashing deal of FIVE times its original price, plus shipping, of course!

Mommy has been waiting for this moment for a whole 12 months. The only surprise? Just how much this snowman completely freaks out Chrissy.

He's a bit broken, being over ten years old and all, but I love him just the same.

But not nearly as much as Chrissy likes to drink out of a cup, clearly!

She's getting the hang of it quite nicely.

If You Give A Mouse A Pancake

This morning is going to be very interesting, I can tell already. We got up a bit later than usual since I was up until 10pm last night. Holy moly!

Then we showered and went to the school for annual pancake breakfast, where I enjoyed two whole pancakes. Yummy!

Then it was off to be entertained. Hi Lion!

I sure am happy when I get to sleep in and have a tasty breakfast.

This is super pinkalicious. The bathroom at school is pink. Can you believe that when I'm in kindergarten that I get to use a pink bathroom. Sign me up!

After breakfast, Emily, Katie and I ran around like chickens and even got our picture taken with Santa. Since I learned to go pee pee and poop on the potty I figure I've got this whole present thing locked up. Score!

Then we went home and Mommy made me take a nap. Mommy laughed every time she walked by my room because I was doing everything but sleeping but was doing it quietly. One go round included her seeing me keep my eyes closed with my fingers. Another time? On my floor, resting on my Dora pillow while resting my feet on the wall.

After a non-sleeping rest, it was time to head out to the next show.

At the ripe age of three, this is as good as saying 'cheese' gets!

Bring On The Cheese- Meet The Cutest Mouse In The House

The day has finally arrived- my very first recital. The nutcracker will never be the same. We went to rehearsal super early this morning and it was my first time in a costume for longer than one minute and it was even better than I remembered it!

Daddy caught this momentous occasion on camera. I'm the second mouse from the left. You know, the one who isn't in step at any point during the song and who doesn't jump the cheese.

After our rehearsal, it was time to pick our tree. The kind where Daddy gets all huffy and does an army crawl on the ground with a dull saw and cut the tree down. Yeppers, I made sure to pick the widest tree with the most girth.

I think Mommy was the only one excited about this adventure. Can we say alpacas?

Didn't believe my army crawl description? Need I say more?

We didn't really plan ahead and spent many frustrating minutes attaching this sucker to our car. The whole mile ride home we devised a plan to get an artificial tree next year. After an awesome nap, it was time to head over to the recital. Mommy was a room mother and she made sure we had all the space we needed to focus..... on Dora. Thank goodness for DVD players!

Puppy Princess!

How do you play dress up? I like to mix it up with outerwear, sized 6-12 months, with princess dresses.

And run around telling everyone I'm a puppy princess.

Who really likes hide and seek.

And doesn't like Mommy's rule about no babies playing with the DVD player.

Some might say she gets down right ornery.

We interrupt this game to disrobe for a snack. Hey, even puppies get hungry.

So Daddy and Chrissy played a quick game.

It starts with a big smile.

Involves saying hi to the ceiling.

And feeling way bigger than Mommy will ever be.

We both really hope that we take after Daddy in the height department. Mommy is down right short.

After Mommy went upstairs I wanted to play dolly and so did Chrissy.

Countdown To Christmas

This is so super exciting. Very soon it will be Christmas. I'm not sure what it means, but I've heard a lot of background murmuring about toys and Christmas. Christmas for Chrissy sure has a nice ring to it, right?

I think I might ask for some more dollies to play with.

Samantha is super lucky to be a big girl. A tiara and a special calendar, advent, I think. Anywhoo, Daddy explained that she gets to open one door each night and there is a special treat behind each door. I think it's chocolate, which sounds super tasty. I bet it's as good as ice cream and I sure like me some ice cream!

What? No ice cream or chocolate for me? Harumph, dolly and I will just do our own thing without you, then.

I think the tiara holds special door opening powers.

Christmas Traditions, Messy And Memorable

For the last nine months, I've been looking forward to joining our family Christmas tradition. Today was the day! Samantha and I stripped down and happily swished our hands in green paint to make a Krempa-Burt Christmas tree and brown paint on our footsies made the trunk. Daddy got such a kick out of watching us get messy and knowing that there was no point in telling us not to make a mess. Even Samantha knew this was the one time all year to make the most out of getting messy.

Samantha was as happy as could be, though you can't tell from this picture. What on earth! As for me? Turns out I'm destined for a life of gardening with my green thumb. Literally!

When I woke up this morning, I could just tell it was going to be an awesome day. I was fresh off an awesome party and looked forward to ballet rehearsal this afternoon.

Chrissy looked forward to waffles.

Then my ears perked up when Mommy mentioned grocery shopping. I hopped out of my booster seat and jetted off to pick the most perfect errand running outfit I could find. I think I succeeded.

Today it's time to build our gingerbread houses. I sure hope Mommy has a lot of glue because they're gonna get decorated!

Chrissy and Ava formed an impromptu band and showed us that they sure do have rhythm- who would have guessed?

We sure had a lot to do before Connor and Johnny's birthday party this afternoon. It takes time to make a pizza cake, you know.

And even more time to tame the mane. Yeah, even I'm a little nervous. On a side note, Mommy thinks it's a tad ridiculous that I pick and choose when to wear a bib, but it's never mealtime anymore.

Wowsers, silly spray sure works wonders. I clean up really nicely. Vroom, vroom!

Mommy took us girls and gave Daddy an afternoon off. It was a fair trade because Daddy got Chrissy sleep training duty this week and deserved a much needed break. Mommy and Chrissy woke up at 5am and headed to the lobby so Daddy and I could catch some more zzzzz's. When I finally woke up, I found the best surprise. What's this?

Fresh off this excitement, we ate breakfast and headed over to Grandma and Grandpa's house to see them and Auntie Diana and Uncle Ziggy. Chrissy loved AD, but was less excited for the camera.

Press Your Luck- It's Not Just A Game Show

So, Mommy picked us up from school early today and drove us up to see the ENT. I got the final confirmation that the tubes are already working. Translation? The dreaded sleep training can commence and no one is looking forward to at all. Can I please come live with you instead? I may not sleep at night, but I'm super happy and cute all the time!

The second whammy of the day came when the ENT looked in Samantha's ears and said the tubes were still in there. If they don't fall out on their own by January, then she get surgery to have them removed. My thoughts? If they haven't fallen in out in 24 months, what is another month going to do? Nothing!

After this disappointing appointment, we headed home and loaded up into Daddy's car and drove all the way to Virginia. I slept the whole way and Samantha watched movies. At least the day ended on a good note!

This Is So Embarrassing

I found my Little Gym medal and gave it to Chrissy so she had something to look forward to when she was older. She liked it but was overwhelmed by all the toy options.

Didn't believe it when I told you over and over that Chrissy eats everything? Proof!

And now for the bestest part- timber!

The embarrassing part of the day? During the second run through for The Nutcracker, as soon as the music started I noticed my slipper was untied. I froze and Miss Amy rescued me and tied me back up.

Instead of rejoining the number I grabbed myself and Miss Amy instantly called for Mommy. I made it just in time to go pee pee on the potty but completely missed my number in front of all of these people. Wowsers is right!

Sadly, my playdate with Kayleigh and Peter was canceled due to illness. Being sick stinks. Feel better Kayleigh's Mommy! We decided to hang out at home and rest up. Before we knew it, it was time to go to Gabby's birthday party. Daddy and Chrissy stayed home just to keep her healthy a bit longer.

Where I did a magic trick. Look at that ball float by itself. Yeah, I'm that awesome!

I'll have to add more pictures later of the huge slide. It was awesome. Alex and his parents and Mommy all went down the slide a bunch of times.

Then it was off to the second room where I ditched Mommy for the obstacle course, which I totally rocked. Before we knew it, group picture time. Arianna and Mira are two great friends and we posed for the camera together.

Until I wanted no more camera.

Doctors Everywhere

I woke up this morning with a bump in my eye. Mommy is so tired of doctors and was planning to take Chrissy to her nine month well visit this afternoon so she wanted to skip a morning appointment. Until I mentioned on the way to school that my eye hurt. No matter that I pointed to the wrong eye when asked. We dropped Chrissy off at school and went to the grocery store near the doctors to wait for them to open. We walked each aisle while I begged for food. I get "hungry" when I see food, not when my belly is empty. It was so bad that customer service offered me free crackers from the salad bar and Mommy quickly declined saying that I only thought I was hungry. Yeah, right!

Long story short, the doctors turned down our offer for an opening appointment and made us drive across four towns to see the doctor whom we happened to already have an afternoon appointment with for Chrissy. Boy, was Dr. G surprised to see us in the morning. Turns out I have a tiny stye in a strange place but it will be fine and I can go to school. Mommy used this opportunity to really give it to me. Both barrels. Dr. G sat me down and gave me the super uncomfortable talk. Birds and bees? Nope. Poop and the potty. It was super uncomfortable and I promised to try harder next time.

So I went to school with the promise not to poop in my diaper. And I kept my promise. Mommy picked me up from nap and we headed back to Dr. G for Chrissy's well visit. Mommy made the nurse take her to another scale because she said it was a whole pound off. Darn if Mommy wasn't right. She said she believed the hospital scale the most because they use that to determine the sleeping gas to give babies. I think she might be onto something. Chrissy is 50 percent height, weight and head circumference. She weighs 16 pounds, 15.6 ounces. She is also getting ready for sleep training as soon as the ENT clears her ears on Monday. What does that mean for me? No sleep on my Thanksgiving vacation!

So I tried to get ahead on sleep- under the table!

Trust me, she made them food and toys. Man, can they roll!

Big Day Out- Don't Sign Me Up, Please

So, it's finally happening. I'm here in the hospital in a cage they are calling a crib. I know I haven't been too wordy in how I got here, so a little background for you. A single left ear infection in early September cleared up quickly with Amoxicillin. Then in Indy I had a false alarm, but all was well. Then I got a small but pesky cold that made us go to the doctors as much as Mommy needs a potty, which is more than you can imagine unless you actually know my Mommy. Finally the cold exploded into a raging double ear infection and I spent five days on Omnicef. It sorta cleared up but then I spiked a fever out of nowhere and boom I had me a third ear infection and it was a double. So, Dr. G hooked me up with Omnicef for ten days. Mommy was a mess because I was waking up for two to three hours in the middle of the night. And I'm talking in the family room, watching tv and playing with toys and causing a ruckus middle of the night awakenings. On day ten, I was looking and feeling much better and happened to have an ENT appointment. This was last Wednesday for those who are already lost, like Mommy and Daddy! While the ENT listened to the story, she was excited to check out my sure to be beautiful ears after ten days on meds. Boy, was she surprised to find the meds didn't work and my double ear infection had been granted permanent residence in my life. I was then put on Augmenten and seven days later- that's today- I find myself in a cage they tell me is a crib.

The id band that was put securely on my ankle to make sure I wouldn't get lost. At least it was secure until Mommy picked me up and it slipped right off and landed on the floor next to the surprised nurse. I got me a second band and kept the first to play with.

Mommy and I walked the halls for an hour waiting for surgery and for Daddy to drop Samantha off at school to come stay with me. All the nurses loved me and how cute, calm and curious I was. Mommy warned them that we have a family history of being really grouchy when coming out of anesthesia but they said I'd be fine. Daddy showed up just in time to see me get wheeled off. When they found me in the recovery room I was as bad as Mommy warned them I would be. I screamed louder and longer than the six other kiddos. The nurses moved me to a private recovery room to stop scaring the other kiddos. Finally, after almost an hour and a half, the nurse approached Mommy and said the Doctor wanted us to go home in hopes that I'd calm down and sleep on the car ride home. Houston, we got kicked out of the hospital! But they were right and I slept the whole way home and spent the day cuddling with Mommy.

When Samantha came home Mommy made her share her toys with me. She wasn't too happy, at first.

But then jumped right into awesome big sister mode and peace was restored.

Here's to a good night sleep!

PS- At the hospital Mommy ran into an old friend whose son was getting tubes by the same doctor right after me. What a small world!

Now that I'm crawling, the world is my oyster. I'm crawling everywhere. Especially to places that I'm not supposed to. My goal? To pull everything, and I do mean everything, from the tv stand. Electronics and all. My plan to reach my goal? Strength training.

Chrissy Crawls- That's Me!

At school, I crawled for the first time and daddy was there to see it!

Secretly, Daddy and I were super thrilled that he was able to share this special moment with me because he is gone so much and misses all the super cool things that I do. You know, things like throw all my food and toys on the floor and spit food in Mommy's face.

But we didn't want Mommy and Samantha to feel left out, so I crawled a bit for them with a side of fuss in honor of the camera capturing the moment.

Then Samantha took tons of liberties while playing faces with Daddy while I practiced standing on the exersaucer.

Mommy took some pictures tonight, but they were all of my tushie. Videos it is!

Getting Ready To Rumble

I'm still working on the pooping on the potty thing. At home, it's a bit easier because I can sit and sit and sit. You know, poop takes a long time to come. Thankfully, Chrissy is there to entertain me.

And distract Mommy with the camera.

We read books together.

Chrissy loves anything that she can destroy, eat or destroy and eat.

Her exersaucer is even better now that she can stand on the outside and get the toys up close.

Mischief Maker In The Makin'

So, Miss Kim totally told Mommy that I pulled myself up to a sitting position in my crib yesterday afternoon when I woke up from my nap. Yeppers, I'm starting to take more regular naps at school in my crib and at home on the weekends so long as I'm not in my crib. Go figure!

Mommy made me cry it out last night after a rough go round at about 8pm. I finally got up at 5am, comforted by the bleary look in Mommy's eyes that told me that she woke up at 2:30am and couldn't go back to sleep. Now she knows how I feel! When she got me? I was sitting up!

I played at school today great. My meds are really helping me feel better. Double ear infections are something awful and three between mid-Sept and now is just the pits!

At home we girls took baths. Me first while Samantha sat on the potty going through our entire board book collection waiting in vain for poop to come. Nothing, but that story is for another day.

When it was Samantha's turn in the bath I waited until Samantha and Mommy were distracted, pulled myself up on the side of the tub and knocked the huge bottle of soap into the very full tub. SPLASH!!! All over the tub, Mommy, the iPad and the walls. Samantha and Mommy's completely startled reactions? Priceless! Mommy was about to scold Samantha for splashing with the door open until I couldn't hold it in any longer and started my trademark giggle and then we all laughed at my silliness and penchant for mischief.

I was such a good baby that Mommy and Daddy really didn't need to child-proof much. But Chrissy? She's into everything! She recently took a liking to kosher salt. Not sure why, but it held her interest for a whole 45 seconds, which is an eight-month old's personal record.

It's started already. I told her, "Silly, Chrissy. Put those sprinkles back!". She looked at me and told me that she was going to ignore me.

Thank goodness Daddy is in town because I went from feeling okay to miserable in 60 seconds. When did this happen? Around 1am this morning. I don't think I shared with you all of my adventures last week, but I went to the doctor on Wednesday for potential pink eye and that was a bust, but then headed back to the doctor's on Friday because school said I had a fever but the doctor said I didn't and that my ears were beautiful as my ears come.

Mommy took me to the doctors for an 8:20am appointment and the doctor reacted with a 'yuck' as soon as she looked in my ears. Double ear infection! Technically speaking I was banned from school, but we didn't want to miss the parade so we drove right over and I latched onto Daddy's shoulder with all my might and we headed to the parade to cheer Samantha on.

Coat? Not me. Hat? Mommy's call.

Mommy found Minnie, I mean Samatha with all of her friends.

Her costume is hiding under her coat, but you saw it yesterday and it's super cute on her!

Costume Party

So, Daddy has to fly to Louisville, or someplace like that. That means it's up to us girls to represent the Burts at my first ever costume party.

Minnie Mouse kindly agreed to escort me.

But she wasn't all thrilled to have her Minnier Mouse tagging along on her big girl parties.

Whatever, as long as I can gnaw on a rice krispie treat, all is right with the world and I don't need to spend every minute with Minnie.

Mommy came downstairs after a night out on the town and sleeping in until the ungodly late hour of 8am and almost cried with pure joy at watching Samantha entertain me with a puzzle. Samantha took each puzzle piece out of its spot and said, "Boop, there it is." And when I picked a piece up myself? She replied, "Thank you." I love having a big sister.

What I do not love is being under the weather. This stinks to have a plain Jane cold. Ears are fine as per the doctor visit yesterday afternoon and second doctor's visit in 48 hours, but my second tooth is bullying my gums big time. Mommy can see the tooth that broke the skin a few weeks ago as well as the one that will bust out any day.

I bet you're not going to believe this, but it's snowing! In October! And soccer was canceled- again!

Miss Ewa came over to help fold baby clothes. And, baby, there sure is a ton of them. Miss Ewa was here five hours and only got about a 1/3 of the way through them. I slept while Mommy watched Bridesmaids and Samantha and Daddy got their naps, too.

Daddy and I stayed home while Mommy took Samantha to ballet.

Yep, I'm coming up with these nuggets all by myself and Mommy is stifling smiles behind her hand. She likes the cadence of my jigs and, frankly, so do I!

We continued our trend of taking Chrissy to the doctors for every infraction . This time was a gunky, pink eye. Turns out the 16 pound, nine ounce girl just has a gunky eye. No sign of pink eye.
Personally? I'm lovin' the doctors visits. I get stickers since Chrissy is too young and all. She'd just eat the stickers!

Back home I entertained myself with some 'that's silly' in my Highlights magazine. Can you believe a magazine just for me? I love it!

Mommy picked us up from school and we headed to the post office to mail some packages. The line was about 15 people deep, and did they beg for entertainment. No worries, I'm here for you!

I ran back and forth in the hallway, screaming my numbers the entire time. And I made it such fun that all the grownups forgot to be grumpy about the line. And one lady followed us to our next stop. The library! And we also ran into Emily and Robert. That's is what's so great about being in Mayberry. You run into friends everywhere you go.

I went right to the computer and Mommy returned books and found a bunch of new books for me and her. We have such different taste. Can you believe her books don't have any pictures? Boring!

When we got home I fed Chrissy puffs and watched her eat a whole serving of sweet potato/apple. It must be her favorite because that is the first time she ate the entire package in one sitting at home. And then she ate carrots/apple/mango. She liked that, too. Different strokes for different folks!

Mommy put fussy bussy to bed and we heard her wail for 45 minutes while we read Purplicious, Barenstein Bears and The Very Clumsy Click Beetle. I was almost all green today except I forgot to ask to go poop on the potty at school. Too much pressure!

Then it was off to bed. Mommy checked on Chrissy a bit later and found her fast asleep (finally) and then she checked on me. She asked why I wasn't sleeping. My response? "It's hard to fall asleep."

Dating Milestone

So Daddy threw his back out and we didn't want to miss out on the pumpkin picking adventures, so we girls headed out to Stults Farm by ourselves.

Sesame Place, Samantha Style

Today was super special. We went to soccer as a family, but then we dropped Chrissy back home to play with Miss Melissa and us big people headed out for some serious fun at Sesame Place.
Of course, as soon as we arrived, I ran to my favorite ride with my favorite Daddy. The carousel and I go way back. So do Daddy and I, for the record!

Yes, it's true. I'm not a big fan of eating yet. I only eat what is super yummy. If it's only so-so, then I prefer to play with it. Puffs fall squarely in this category. I prefer to decorate my face, clothes and Mommy with Puffs.
