Vistors, Round Two!

Today is a big day. Daddy's Mommy and Daddy are a comin' to visit and meet Chrissy for the first time. Mommy celebrated the specialness of this trip by getting her hair cut for the first time in 18 months.   Yeah, I told you she was hopeless.
After her haircut, she picked us chickies up from school and we headed to the big kid playground for a playdate with Katie and Zacky.  Accuse me, I'm going to check out the slides. (Yeah, that is totally how I say 'excuse me' and it's even cuter than you can possibly imagine!)
Taking turns is tough, and even more so when the object of our attention is super tricky.
Did I say super, super tricky?  It sure is!
How do you stay on?
Clearly not by myself!
Katie has the right idea, sticking to the slides is way more fun at this age.

I'm on my way!
Balancing act made more fun with Zacky.  Don't fall!
We had a break in the routine and had pizza on Wednesday.  I waited for our order to get ready and before I knew it Daddy's car pulled up and I jumped in the car with Daddy and Grandpa while Grandpa stayed with Chrissy and Mommy.
Chrissy is so funny.  Her hands are all the entertainment she needs.
Hand closed, seems fun.
Hand in mouth, even better!

Wowsers, my very first watch.  Thanks, Grandma!  How'd you know I'm totally obsessed with 7 o'clock?  Now I can see what time it is all day and night long!

Pull up a towel, it's night-night time, Grandma!

I said go to sleep!
Close your eyes!

Eh, it's way too hard to pretend to go to sleep when I'm so super excited that you're here.  I love you!

Mommy Must Be Color Blind!

This is not a joke.  Mommy actually dressed me in this outfit.  For school no less.  If I had any other parents then school would think that Daddy dressed me on days like this.  Not my parents.  School knows that Daddy's in town any time I come to school in a matching outfit.

This one may take the cake.  The socks solidify its place in the mismatch hall of fame, don'tcha agree?

Daddy was horrified when Mommy brought me downstairs and I couldn't even bring myself to look at the camera when she busted it out.

Fortunately, I totally know how to drool on any outfit and school changed me into a slightly more coordinating outfit.  They don't really have much to work with because Mommy grabs clean clothes and fills my bin with zero regard to providing outfits by any stretch of the definition.

I was a bit miffed at her to start the public humiliation so soon.  She didn't seem to mind.....

Irene, You STINKER!!!

What a crazy night.  Daddy was up all night to make sure our house was safe from the silly water that wanted to be places it shouldn't.  Throw in two tornado warnings that brought us to the basement twice in the middle of the night and I'd say there was more than enough excitement this week.

I did overhear Mommy asking for a pool someday.  Somehow I don't think she meant in our front yard.

Or by the mailbox.
Or by the garden.

After the rain died down this morning around 8am, all was looking up.  House was still standing and not enough damage to require a contractor or insurance claim.  We were super lucky and blessed.  Except for the nusisance of losing power and panicking Mommy who lost my milk for daycare tomorrow.  To distract Mommy, we all went on a fieldtrip to see if we could get to school tomorrow. Good thing we did.  All but one of the roads that lead to school were under water.

Literally.  This is Mayberry's Main Street.
Unbelievably sad!
We invited ourselves to Emily's condo for dinner right about the time that power came back on.  Emily and Samantha were in rare form from being cooped up all weekend.  Samantha had the good manners to go pee pee in the potty instead of the living room.  Thank goodness for Christmas miracles, right?

They were so wild during dinner that Robert got cranky so Mommy took them running in the halls of the condo.  The loud noises the rest of us heard while they were out?  Totally them!

Thankfully all of our family and friends are safe and just a bit wetter than usual. It's a bit stinky, but everyone being safe is the best thing ever.

Split Personalities In Mayberry

Yes, Chrissy has two nicknames and they are both totally appropriate and used often in our house.  Grabby Gabby pretty much sums up her tendency to grab everything within a ten foot radius of her tiny little hands.  I can't believe what she can get a hold of.  And definitely believe it when it's my hair that's attached to my head.  Ouchers!

Her other nickname?  Chatty Cathy.  This baby can carry an entire conversation by herself.  No joke!

She found the camera case as soon as Mommy got the camera out to capture my art project in the making.
Snaps are fun!
And so are pictures of Chrissy- she is such a ham!
Today's art project is making a rainbow out of marshmallows.  Tricky Mommy makes me sort them by color and then count how many in each pile.  Then I have to glue them in the arc.  Good thing I think it's just about fun!

Daddy Daughter Pizza

With a Mommy thrown in the mix for good measure.  Since Emily's Mommy had her baby last Friday, she and Baby Robert Henry stayed at their condo and the rest of us braved the germs and mosquitos at pizza.

Chrissy had her usual, two sheets of wax paper, with a twist!

Mommy is still on her fruits and veggies kick and whipped out pears for us while the pizza was being cooked.

No pizza until we finish our pears?  Wowsers, you mean business!

Chrissy was way more interested in the wax paper than anything anyone could say or do to entertain her.
I sit corrected!
Hmm, super cute on Emily but her Daddy takes the cake!

What is this?  The bottomless cup of pears?

Mommy feeding Chrissy while two preschoolers get bored means sitting on the steps of the cobbler's shop watching cute puppies walk on by.
Come this way to the fire house.  You don't know this by now?  Silly reader!
We eat pizza, stop at the monuments, walk to the firehouse, have a meltdown or two and then go for ice cream.  Everyone knows that!

Hi monuments.
Firehouse, here we come.  With bells, I mean flowers on!

Competing Daddies means we girls win! Upside down Samantha and over the shoulders Emily!

The lake is drained.

Wowsers!

That's my house.  Or it would be if I were super, super rich.
Chrissy doesn't care about much except if someone will entertain her.  She is so super laid back that watching paint dry makes her smile.  I'm totally serious!

I'm pretty sure she wants to eat Daddy's nose.
Yep, she's totally scouting it out.
And she goes for the kill and misses by a nose hair.

Cousins Unite!

Today is a school day, but we're not going to school.  Daddy and Mommy declared it mini vacation day and we headed to the beach.  We're going to see cousin Lauren.  Yay!

Mommy tried to get some photos.  Chrissy was not quite on board the same ship.

It's way hard to sit and smile when you're a baby but Lauren's smile is super cute, right?
That's my sister!
Lauren is learning to surf and was trying to teach me.
I wasn't on board at all!
We headed to the beach just in time for it to start raining.  Chrissy and Mommy wussed out while Lauren and I had so much fun playing in the sand and water.  We brought our hungry bellies back inside and munched on our favorites.  Mine?  Pita with hummus and pears, of course!
Lauren was super excited that Mommy brought pears for her, too.  So we shared the same chair and filled our bellies with yummy pears.

Kid approved!

Serious cousins!
Silly Lauren and focus Samantha!
Hey, I refuse to miss lunch!

Lauren is one happy bappy!
Frozen peas?  No way!  You can have them all Lauren!
I'll stick with my pears.

Chrissy stuck with the magic wand.  She chews on it and Daddy smiles.
That's some trick!
Can she make you smile?
She can make Aunt Katie smile.
Cousin Lauren loves babies and was super excited to hold one that actually eats and goes pee pee.  Way better than a dolly!
Chrissy ready to give Mommy a high five!

Super cute!
It started to rain really hard and there was an evacuation of the whole town.  Talk about a bummer.  We had to pack up and leave early.  Lauren was super sad to see us leave.

We hugged it out and promised to visit again really soon.
Our parents approve!

Can you see how dark it is out the windows? That's super hard rain coming down and making it super dark outside.  I think Hurricane Irene is not going to be kind. At least Curious George will keep me company on the ride home.

I had so much fun with Lauren today.  Too bad she lives in California.  Makes for a tough time in scheduling last minute play dates.  Come back soon!  Or maybe I can come visit you in California!
