Memorial Day

After such a great day yesterday, it was high time to continue this wonderful streak.  We headed straight out to the garden and greeted our corn and beloved outdoor cat, Roger.  I have the magic touch with animals, don't I?  See the careful way I scratch the top of his head.  He thinks I'm awesome!

After some bonding, it was high time to jump on the glider.  I'm so great at swings these days that I no longer need Mommy or Daddy to sit with me.

And I love it!

After great fun I headed off to a super early nap.  Why?  Not sure.

Wait- after my nap I realized we were headed to the Memorial Day parade party at our friend's house. We carefully set our chairs out to watch all the parade participants.  I hunkered down with my snacks and felt my curls take hold in protest of the humidity.  It's going to be a long summer!

Despite the heat, Mommy grabbed me for a photo op.  I couldn't have cared less, can you tell?

Then I realized that the parade participants threw candy for us.

And I got really excited and started to wave like crazy in hopes to call attention to myself and snag some treats.

Gosh I'm cute- cuteness works.  Check out my new lolly pop.

Enough sitting down, this toddler wants candy!

Here is a wave in action.  Imagine my surprise when I saw my neighbor horse, Jezebel, coming down the street.  I rode Jezebel last week and this week she is the star of the parade.  Too bad I missed a great photo op.

After the parade ended I headed inside to cool off.  And I discovered the finer points of dress up.  Here I am with Bridget, my schoolmate and dear friend.

Try not to get all tangled up.

I wasn't having much luck.

 Ack- it's attacking me!

Maybe I should be moving onto safer things, like bracelets.

Soon I was ready for camping.  Mommy's not a camper but Daddy is.  That's my Daddy with me. He rocks!

What an amazing day!

Sunday In The Park With- Henry!

It's no secret that I've been adoring my handsome friend Henry for some time.  Since Day 3 of my life if anyone is nosy enough to need details.  Why do I bring this up out of the blue?  You soon shall see, my dearies!

Not sure if I mentioned earlier, but this weekend was all about home improvement projects. Namely, Mommy whipping up a long list and Daddy tackling it.  That's what the folks call teamwork in Casa de Burt.  Seriously!  Anywhoo- Daddy power washed the brick patio today and banned me from outside while doing so.  Mommy reacted to the boycott by scooping me up and taking me to the Grounds for Sculpture for some fun in the super hot sun.  Did I ever mention that I am heat adverse?  Well, I sure did now!

When we got there it wasn't so bad.  Mommy handed me pita with garlic hummus (to fend of the suitors, on doubt) and we headed on our path with me taking the lead, of course.

Shortly thereafter we found Momma peacock and several babies.  I decided there were too many nosy bodies and became their escort.

Step back from Momma and Babies!

After I escorted them to privacy, I was back on my way to the sculptures.  And I found me some sheep.  Silly sculpture was one of only 15% that were untouchable.  What is that all about?  All kids love sheep. Baa to you!

Are you catching how bloody hot it is outside?  This is how I feel about it.

We watched some duckies and then headed over to the gong that was kid friendly and kid popular.  Guess who showed up mere minutes after we did?  Handsome Henry.  Wowsers!  He is such a wonder of a toddler.  See how well he bangs the mallet!

I learn from the bestest!  Up high.

Down low.

Ah, on to dirt.  Nothing is better than toddlers in dirt.  This might be my best date ever.

Busted.  You caught me checkin' out his heiney.  Seriously, I just got into size six diapers and Henry was in them last summer.  I think we've just landed on the 8th wonder of the world- size six diapers may very well fit everyone!

Here we are walking with our heads down, pretending to be robots.  Super cute robots, me thinks! Shortly after this amazing moment I reached maximum sun exposure and had a total meltdown.  Mommy shoved me in my stroller and ran out of the park with me screaming as loudly as I could.  I continued to do so until the air conditioning kicked in and I cooled off a bit.

Then it was back home we went.  When we got there I started coloring and Mommy tried cleaning up.  That's my turf, buddy!

See, I can multi-task.  Color and sweep at the same time!

If only I could also ride my wonder pets car, too!

Long Weekends- Home Improvement Projects Here We Come!

Daddy had a vacation day yesterday and that meant a super relaxed Daddy this morning. Yay!

I started the day off with some homework.  Must practice writing my name in my special monkey book.

Hey, I'm getting way better at this!

No copying, okay?  Get your own name!

After finishing my homework it was time to bundle up in this 90 degree weather with my current favorite sweatshirt, zipped all the way of course!  Then we headed to my bathroom that used to have nasty carpet.  All gone, as I love to say!  I was so excited for the new cheap, sticky tile that I did a little jig.  Upgraded tile will have to wait until the bathroom is gutted in many, many years.

Thankfully the cabinet is a perfect place to lean against to keep my balance.

Here I am a little bit overconfident.  See me balance on one foot?

I should probably mention about here that Mommy got the brilliant idea from a previous playdate that I am ready for big girl underwear, so in the pictures above I'm sans diaper.  That means "without", just so we're all on the same page.  Mommy asked every three minutes if I needed to go potty.  Fast foward two hours and one bare floor later, I did.  All over my clothes and the untiled floor.  Yeppers..

And that is the story of how I ended up with no clothes and a diaper hanging out with Daddy, who now had to wait for the wood subfloor to dry before placing sticky tile down.

Maybe it was all part of my plan to have more play time with Daddy.  What do you think?

Here I am in one of my super famous non-matching outfits.  This time I'm all about the glue.  But no eating, right?  Yeah, right....

Toddler Art In Motion- Literally

I like to get my blood pumping super early every morning.  The best way to do so?  Run around the play room!

As an added bonus, I like to break out in exercise between burst of artistic inspiration and sometimes I forget to set down my greeting cards decorated by yours truly.

Phew- that was amazing but now it's time to hunker down and color.  My table just wasn't doing it for me so I moved my chair to the easel.

 And climbed aboard.

Whoops- these feet get tangled so easily!

I did it!

Aren't I super focused?  I rock!

Just Daddy And Me

Daddy and I are totally diggin' our together time.  I'm hoping that if we read this colors book enough times that he will be inspired to take me to the place that this book is about- Hawaii.  After all, shouldn't I experience these colors up close and personal? I'm a fish and want to hang out with my buddies!

Truth be told, Daddy can sometimes read in a monotone that makes you lose concentration.  Great Daddy?  Yes! Entertaining reader?  Not all the time  :)

Come on Daddy, give me some fish voices.

Or faces!

Take that, labeler!

Here we are trying to sync up our smiles for the camera. Strike 1.

Strike 2.

Score!

What on earth is wrong with this fishy?

Much better!

Enough reading, I say.

Bring on the rough and tumble.

This is so much fun.  Come join me!

Here I am, just hangin' out.

More!

Yes, I really do mean 'more'!

The world looks so different from this angle.

But I can still give high fives!

And do handstands.

I even love being dragged across the floor.  Rough and tumble shows no limits!
