Pick up something (like a crayon) and scream AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS, "IT'S NOT WORKING".    Mommys all over the world will unite and respond with something like this.

"Crayons need to be touching paper and physically moved around, not held in mid-air, to work.  Grrr!"
